This week, Lincoln County Schools is buzzing with excitement as our Careers on Wheels event gets underway! At East Lincoln Middle School, 4th-grade students from Catawba Springs, St. James, and Iron Station elementary schools have the opportunity to explore a variety of careers in a hands-on and interactive way.

The Careers on Wheels event brings community professionals and their work vehicles directly to the students, offering them a chance to see firsthand how different careers operate outside the classroom. From emergency services to construction, technology, and beyond, the 4th graders are learning about the wide range of jobs that keep our communities running smoothly.

As students rotate through each station, they spend time with each community partner, engaging in discussions about career paths, job responsibilities, and the skills needed to succeed. Many professionals have brought their vehicles, allowing students to explore how these tools are essential in their day-to-day work. The excitement is palpable as students get a close-up look at everything from utility trucks to service vehicles.

After the 4th-grade students finish their tour and head back to their schools, our 7th-graders get the chance to meet these professionals and continue their exploration of career opportunities. For these older students, the event offers a deeper look at potential pathways as they begin thinking more seriously about their future education and career options.

We’d like to give a special thank you to the incredible community partners who made today such a success:
